On the eve of Jill Scott’s Atlantic Records/Blues Babes Records (June 24) release of her fifth studio album “WOMAN”. She has Women and Men organizing viewing parties with friends to catch her on Yahoo LIVE.  Armed with this new body of music, Jill Scott expands the Blues Babes brand with a number of great partnerships; iHeart, Live Nation, Atlantic Records/Warner Brothers and Hallmark/Mahogany. Through the iHeart/Live Nation Partnership she Exclusively released her “Fools Gold” single and headlined the inaugural V103 Summer Block Party in Chicago, Illinois.  With the unique nature of her new Marketing/Distribution partnership through Atlantic Records/Warner Brothers, Ms. Scott has perfectly positioned herself as a key artist in the future of the storied label’s history. Jill Scott’s deal is so unique it is only enjoyed by her and fellow  label mate The White Stripes. With a firm eye on the future, Scott’s most interesting deal is with Hallmark/Mahogany. They have teamed up to bring forth the next generations great writers by providing a $10,000 scholarship to two great wordsmiths.

She is in the midst of a 25 city summer tour (Las Vegas date 8/27/15@BrooklynBowl) where she performs classics like “Hate on me”,”Long Walk” and “Golden” in addition to gives us a taste of new music from singles, “Closure”, “Fools Gold” and “You Don’t Know”. On July 18 “Who is Jill Scott?” turned 15 years old; she made 50 songs for her debut album and had a lot of trouble trimming it down. “Who Is Jill Scott?” was certified platinum, and she received three Grammy nominations (including one for Best New Artist), three NAACP Image rewards and one Soul Train Award for Best Female R&B Album. She has become one of the premiere and most diversed artists in entertainment.

Next year Jill Scott will return to her  her spoken work roots in a new film directed by RZA called CoCo, currently in post production. So, Enjoy tonights show with Jilly from west Philly.

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Jill Scott announced a partnership with Hallmark’s Mahogany brand and Blues Babe, a registered 501(c)3 foundation spearheaded by the singer/songwriter. Through this partnership, Mahogany and the Blues Babe Foundation have established a national, merit-based scholarship for college students interested in pursuing a career in the writing arts. This collaboration highlights both organizations continued commitment to African-American culture.

“To be able to give inner-city students the opportunity to receive a scholarship and pursue a career in writing is phenomenal,” said Ms. Scott. “My love and passion for writing is reflected in my music and my poetry and I am sincerely grateful that Mahogany decided to partner with the Blues Babe Foundation to help nurture young creative minds.”

Currently enrolled college students interested in applying for the scholarship may visit to submit qualifying information, a writing sample and an essay for consideration. Two winning applicants (as selected by representatives from Mahogany and the Blues Babe Foundation) will each receive a $10,000 scholarship. Both winners also will be invited to Hallmark’s headquarters in Kansas City, Mo. for an all-expenses paid workshop with Mahogany’s team of writers during the summer of 2016. This personalized workshop will help students hone their craft over a three-day period and fully immerse them in the day-to-day experience of a Mahogany writer.

Mahogany and the Blues Babe Foundation also will team up to promote the importance of education and creative writing skills during sessions at this year’s Camp Jill Scott, an annual summer enrichment camp for underserved middle school students in the North Philadelphia area. Mahogany writers will work directly with the campers, serving as positive role models and inspiring them to explore their creative writing abilities through guided activities.
